Below are various types of eye-catching posters and displays created
by MLA members. Please click on images to see a larger view.
| Used to promote American Heart Month, these heart facts were
displayed on the glass doors to the entrance of the University of Pittsburgh
Medical Center Shadyside Hopwood Library. Consumers noticed the bright
red hearts and stopped in for additional information. Try the same concept
using starts, circles, or links to promote NMLM. |
The staff at the Medical College of Wisconsin Libraries-Milwaukee
created a take off on a VH-1 cable television series with their "Behind
the Librarian" display. Using photos and biographical sketches, the
library staff gave their patrons an opportunity to get to know the people
who make their library work. |

Center Library, Burbank, CA, displayed these "Table Topics"
cards on cafeteria tables to promote the library and NMLM. |
2000 NMLM Creative Promotions Award winner, Duke
Medical Center Library, created this "Anatomy of a Medical Library"
display using a stylized anatomical model of a human body to represent the
functions of various library departments. |

Hospital's Health Learning Center, Chicago, IL, for physicians and nurses
includes a tear-off pad used to refer patients to the library for information
about their medical condition. |
Bio-Medical Library, University of Minnesota, created
this attention-grabbing "stuck?" postcard to advertise their open
house.

| The award-winning staff at University of Florida
Health Science Center Libraries created the Rxead campaign to strengthen
connections between the HSC libraries and the colleges they serve. Posters
and other items were created using photos of the institution's college deans. |
The Children's Hospital of Michigan-Detroit
library staff created an easy yet clever way of announcing their open house
by adding to the NMLM "Take a Byte" poster |

| Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, CA, earned "Best
In Show" distinction at the 2006 Swap and Shop by submitting mateirals
from its "Click and Connect" campaign promoting the newly created
library identity, logo and online catalog. |
The University of Florida Health Science Center Libraries-Gainesville
staff placed these tent cards on cafeteria tables to promote their weekly
contests and prizes in celebration of NMLM. |

| School of Medicine Library, University of South Carolina--Columbia,
garnered second place in the 2006 NMLM Creative Promotions Contest
for their "Back to the Beach Day" event insipired by the 2006
NMLM theme. Colorful displays included eye-catching invitation, a beach-themed
photo corner, and refreshmment table. Staff also spoofed the 50's and 60's
by placing their own headshots in retro beach posters. |
First place winner in the 2006 NMLM Creative Promotions Contest was Bell-Pittman
Library Resource Center, Wilson Medical Center, Wilson, NC, for their
NMLM "Everything Under the Sun," open house celebration. From
cake to soda to powerpoint images of the sun, staff created a bright, sunny
atmosphere while informing their medical center staff about the services
they provide. |

| The St. John's Van K. Smith Community Health Library, Springfield,
MO, staff spread the word about their library throughout the community
by placing this colorful poster in clinic waiting rooms, exam rooms, retail
pharmacies, public libraries, fitness centers and in the offices of corporate
partners. |
The Kornhauser Health Sciences Library won the "Best In Show"
prize at the 2002 Swap n Shop booth with their "got data?" campaign.
Used to promote the Greater Louisville's People Network for Health Information
Resources, the campaign demonstrated the many ways people use health data
and resulted in a marked increase in Website visits. |
